## Our story and vision

Usercentrics has grown from a start-up to a leading innovator of consent technology for the new internet economy focused on user choice. Based on unrivaled data privacy technology that has pioneered consent management platforms since 2012, we at Usercentrics work for a better internet for everyone.

We do this by creating technology that makes it easy for any type of organization with an online presence to protect data privacy while growing their data-driven business.

## Company history

### 2017

Usercentrics was founded in Munich, Germany, by Mischa Rürup, Vinzent Ellissen, and Lisa Gradow. Separately, Daniel Johannsen founded Cybot in Denmark in 2012 to operate the Cookiebot™ consent management platform.

### September 2018

Usercentrics raised a pre-seed round from Cavalry Ventures and Reimann Investors. A €4 million Series A led by Alstin Capital followed in July 2019, and in December 2020 the company closed a €17 million Series B led by Full In Partners.

### September 2021

The two companies were merged under the Usercentrics name.

### October 2025

Usercentrics announced it had surpassed €100 million in annual recurring revenue, approximately $117 million, citing 45% year-over-year growth and profitability.

### January 2026

The company acquired New York City–based MCP Manager, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) gateway that gives enterprises visibility and access control over AI tools and data connections their teams use.
