In Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) has been in place since 2000. If passed, the Digital Charter Implementation Act (Bill C-11), which includes the Consumer Privacy Protection Act (CPPA), would significantly update privacy law in Canada.
