Summary

The company

NEW WORK SE operates XING, and onlyfy by XING from eight locations across the DACH region, with around 490 employees. XING is a recruitment network central to the German-speaking job market.

The XING platform depends on advertising partnerships that require consented audience data. As user behavior shifted toward mobile on XING, consent management became directly tied to revenue generation and campaign optimization.

The challenge

“We migrated from a self-developed, in-house solution. Main reasons: slow change cycles and long processes — weeks to implement changes — and limited insight into consent rates.”
— Senior Product Manager, NEW WORK SE

Deploying changes required coordination across multiple teams, often taking up to two to three weeks. This pace was incompatible with evolving standards such as TCF v2.2 and took a lot of development resources.

At the same time, the team lacked visibility into consent performance and had no ability to test or optimize consent interactions.

On mobile, the gap was more severe. iOS users had no consent mechanism, making them unreachable for advertising as no CMP or ATT was built in at all.

“A significant portion of users were active only on the app, particularly iOS, where they had no previous solution. This gap in reaching iOS users represented a major business opportunity.”

As mobile usage increased, this gap directly impacted revenue potential.

Goals

1) Accelerate consent operations
Reduce deployment cycles from weeks to near real-time updates across platforms.

2) Enable mobile consent coverage
Introduce a consent mechanism for app users, particularly on iOS, to make previously unreachable audiences accessible.

3) Improve consent visibility and data quality
Gain insight into consent behavior and introduce testing capabilities to optimize performance.

4) Support compliant advertising at scale
Adopt the latest TCF version to meet industry standards and sustain advertising revenue streams.

Why NEW WORK SE chose Usercentrics Web CMP and App CMP

Cross-device and cross-domain consent consistency was a core requirement. Users moving between web and app needed a unified consent record.

Usercentrics Web CMP and App CMP met this requirement while also supporting analytics, A/B testing, and TCF v2.2 compliance.

“Privacy compliance is essential — protecting and strengthening brand reputation, embracing TCF 2.2 as the industry standard, and driving marketing performance by supporting a compliant foundation to sustain and grow advertising revenue streams.”

The platform also streamlined vendor onboarding through predefined legal text blocks, significantly reducing manual effort.

Implementation

NEW WORK SE implemented Usercentrics Web CMP and App CMP across its digital ecosystem, working with an implementation partner.

The web setup was completed over two to three months. Due to cross-device consent sharing and special styling requirements, the app consent implementation had more complexity. Thanks to Usercentrics’ support, these technical challenges were resolved with straightforward solutions, said Maier.

“Technical challenges stemmed from complex internal page structure and fragmented setup across multiple domains and brands. These challenges were resolved through workarounds and collaborative support with Usercentrics.”

The final deployment included:

  • 10+ web domains, including main and subdomains of different brands
  • 2 mobile apps (Android and iOS)

Results

Faster deployment
Change cycles reduced from 2–3 weeks to less than one hour

“Process speed: change deployment reduced from 2–3 weeks to approximately one hour maximum.”

Scalable partner management
New TCF advertising partners added across all platforms in approximately 15 minutes

Revenue enablement
TCF v2.2 compliance supported access to advertising revenue that was not previously available, while maintaining existing revenue streams and opening additional monetization opportunities.

“Advertising revenue improved and was maintained — compliance supported ad revenue generation that couldn’t be generated pre-TCF 2.2.”

Mobile monetization
iOS users reachable for advertising for the first time
Improved cross-channel targeting and attribution performance

“Improved ability to measure and monetize iOS app traffic. The ability to target users across omnichannel has contributed to improved performance. We were also able to open new revenue streams and monetize more effectively, for example through retargeting.”

Data quality and insight
Granular, user-level consent mapping that can also be used for cases like Server-Side Tagging
Better visibility into consent behavior across platforms

“Better understanding of the user consent landscape, which enables more targeted, compliant marketing.”

Final word from our valued client

“Switching from our self-built solution to Usercentrics was a turning point for how we operate. Having a consistent, transparent consent experience across our web platforms and mobile apps, including iOS, means we can build genuine trust with our users while helping to ensure our marketing data is both high quality and compliant. That’s what enables us to reach our users across all channels and grow our revenues in a sustainable way.”
