Frequently asked questions
When you sign up for a free trial with Usercentrics CMP, you get full access to all premium features at no cost for 14 days. The trial covers one domain and one setup configuration, with support for up to two banner languages. During this period, you will receive all the necessary information to set up your account and implement your Consent Management Platform.
You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time during your trial or after it ends to remain privacy-compliant and retain access to your collected consented data.
If you choose a plan to continue after your trial expires, you will maintain full access to your Usercentrics CMP setup and the features of the plan you choose. If you don’t transition to a free or paid plan, your account and setup will remain intact, but you won’t be able to make changes, access logs, or display the banner. This means you will stop collecting consent and may no longer be compliant with data privacy regulations. To avoid this, log in and choose your plan to continue using Usercentrics CMP.
You can change or upgrade your plan at any time when logged in to your account. It’s under the Manage Subscriptions section.
A session represents each time a visitor loads your website with our compliance script for a 30-minute period. Each refresh by a user after 30 minutes is counted as a new session. More sessions on your website contribute to a lower cost per session.
We recommend choosing a plan that matches your session usage. If your website(s) is growing out of your plan’s current session limit you can always upgrade to one of our available plans from your Account & Billing page. This allows for up to 1,000,000 sessions per month with our Business Plan.
Please note: If you exceed your plan’s session limit, your plan will automatically be adjusted in accordance with our Terms & Conditions / Terms & Conditions (USA) to ensure no disruption to your subscription or website compliance.
Once your usage exceeds 50,000 sessions per month, your Business Plan seamlessly transitions into a higher usage tier. These tiers are part of the same Business Plan and scale based on session volume and domain count.
Each tier includes the full set of Business features, with pricing aligned to your growing needs:
- 100,000 sessions per month and 10 domains for €100
- 150,000 sessions per month and 15 domains for €150
- 200,000 sessions per month and 20 domains for €200
- 250,000 sessions per month and 25 domains for €250
- 500,000 sessions per month and 50 domains for €400
- 750,000 sessions per month and 75 domains for €575
- 1,000,000 sessions per month and 100 domains for €750
This enables you to scale steadily on the Business Plan with predictable pricing.
Yes — add-ons are available for Business plans with more than 100,000 sessions per month. To request an add-on, simply submit a ticket, and our team will assist you with activation.
Add-ons can be added at the start of your contract or during the term, and will follow the billing cycle and terms of your core plan.
We accept payments by credit card with the details saved on your account.

Yes, with the Pro and Business plans, you can create multiple banner configurations for multiple domains. You can also show specific CMP banners to users in specific countries by using Geolocation Rules.
Yes, starting with the Pro Plan and above, Usercentrics CMP allows you to manage multiple domains under a single account. You can configure them to share the same banner settings and legal framework for easier management.
Domains and subdomains are treated equally and are both counted within your subscription. For instance, if you add example.com and shop.example.com, they are considered two separate domains as our technology must scan each domain independently.
Usercentrics CMP is designed to be easy to use for the average user and does not require a lot of technical expertise. There are several easy implementation methods for the Usercentrics CMP into your website, including via a Google Tag Manager template. We also provide extensive documentation on implementing Usercentrics CMP in our Support Knowledge Base.
Visit our Usercentrics CMP Support center, which is available 24/7. You can also contact our Global Support Team, who will be happy to assist you.

Frequently asked questions
If your website collects personal data, you need a privacy policy to let visitors know how and why their data is used. Most websites collect user data. It often happens via cookies. If your website is hosted, or if you use tools like plugins, social media buttons, or analytics on your website, then it does set cookies and collect user data. Find out for free what cookies and trackers are in use on your website with our free cookie checker tool.
Some websites and businesses may require more than just a privacy policy. If your business needs to comply with regulations like the GDPR, you may need to implement a cookie consent solution. Depending on the nature of your website or business, you may also need other legal agreements. For instance, ecommerce websites may need shipping and return policies.
Legal agreements like Terms and Conditions, Terms of Service, and/or Terms of Use also help safeguard your business. These agreements serve as a contract between the website and its users. You can use them to outline what you provide, the rules for using your website, or to define what’s considered prohibited user conduct.
No, having a privacy policy is just the first step in achieving compliance. While it’s essential for informing users about how their data is collected and used, it does not actively manage or record user consent—which is required under data protection laws like the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and others.
To fully comply and build lasting customer trust, businesses need a Consent Management Platform (CMP). A CMP enables you to:
Obtain valid, granular user consent before processing begins.
Provide users with clear choices and allow them to update or withdraw consent anytime.
Store consent records in a legally auditable way.
Automatically adapt website and app behavior based on user preferences.
Beyond compliance, having a CMP unlocks Privacy-Led Marketing, a strategy where transparency and user choice become a competitive advantage. Marketing teams benefit by:
Gaining reliable, consented data that improves targeting and campaign performance.
Maintaining access to key marketing tools like Google Ads and Meta Pixel, which require proper consent signals.
Building trust with privacy-conscious users, leading to stronger brand loyalty and long-term growth.
In short, while a privacy policy tells users what you do, a CMP ensures you do it with their permission and in a way that fuels better marketing and business results.
Try the Usercentrics CMP to turn compliance into a growth driver.
The Basic plan is free:

From within the PPG dashboard, click on the “upgrade to Pro” button and follow the steps provided.
You may not need a separate cookie policy if all the necessary cookie information is already included in your privacy policy. In that case, your privacy policy should encompass the essential privacy details along with the required cookie information. However, for clarity and to comply with cookie regulations, you may want to maintain a distinct cookie policy alongside your privacy policy. This promotes readability and compliance with all cookie-related requirements.
English, Dutch, German, and Italian, with more languages coming soon.
The Privacy Policy Generator supports GDPR compliance, as well as compliance with the CCPA/CPRA, COPPA and other US state-level privacy laws. Additional regulations to follow soon.

Frequently asked questions
With Server-Side Tagging, instead of sending data directly from a user’s device to third parties, tracking data is sent first from the device to a “tagging server” that you control (a ‘first party’ server), typically hosted on your own sub-domain (e.g. analytics.yourwebsite.com), allowing you to decide how and what you may share with third-parties.
Server-Side Tagging helps maintain accurate, reliable, and compliant data collection practices. This is especially important in a landscape increasingly defined by privacy regulations and browser restrictions. Plus, Server-Side Tagging improves website performance and provides centralized control, so it’s a strategic solution to future-proof your online marketing and gain better control over data flows.
Client-side GTM runs JavaScript in the browser. This gives you limited control over exactly which data is captured and processed, apart from opting in or out per service or category.
Server-side GTM runs in a secure cloud environment that you control. It provides you with more oversight of data processing before it reaches vendors. You can also improve data quality and enrich data flows with consented zero- and first-party data.
We support hosting in a Data center based in Germany. More regions to come.
If you are a performance marketer or the founder of a growing business, this solution is for you.
Our Server-Side Tagging product is a managed platform designed to improve the reliability of your measurement, and give you greater control over the data you share with third parties. It is based on server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM), an industry-leading solution for Server-Side Tagging.
Unlike competitors, we offer an out-of-the-box integration with the Usercentrics Web CMP (Consent Management Platform) signals, making achieving compliance with data privacy laws easier. Our solution also supports sending compliant conversion data to Google Ads, Meta (CAPI), using trusted community tag templates, with other channels also supported.
With the Starter Plan you can create and use a free server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM ) container, which can handle up to 20,000 requests per month, 1 custom domain, and consent integration with the Usercentrics Web CMP.
Paid plans include:
- Hosting for multiple tiers of requests over 20,000 per month
- Data processing for one or more server-side GTM container and for one or more custom domains, depending on the selected plan
- Consent integration with the Usercentrics Web CMP
A request is a tracking “hit” sent from the user’s browser to the tagging-server, usually triggered by a page load or event.
Knowing your monthly request volume is important to choose the right plan and ensure smooth tracking.
Here’s how you can estimate your needs:
- Open Google Analytics 4 (GA4):Go to Reports > Engagement > Events.
- Set the date range:Select the last 30 days to get a realistic monthly snapshot.
- Check the ‘Event count’:This total represents the number of times events were triggered on your site. Each of these would translate into a request when sent via Server-Side Tagging.
The Usercentrics Server-Side Tagging containers are hosted in a cloud environment that can increase the number of server instances that back them, based on load. This means your container can handle traffic peaks.
We are providing implementation support via documentation, with further support options to be rolled out during the coming months.
Usercentrics Server-Side Tagging free version is available for general access. Start free with 20.000 requests or choose the paid option that best fits your needs.
Start with 20,000 events per month for free!

Frequently asked questions
Usercentrics Meta Signals Gateway is a fully managed, easy-to-activate solution that simplifies the setup and operation of Meta Signals Gateway, facilitating first-party data transfer from online and offline channels to Meta and beyond.
Instead of requiring you to deploy and maintain the infrastructure yourself, we handle the hosting for you, providing a secure, scalable, and privacy-friendly environment out of the box.
Signals Gateway is Meta’s new all-in-one data solution that helps you maximize the value of your first-party data by streamlining data connections from any source to any destination — Meta or beyond. It enables you to improve campaign performance, reduce acquisition costs, and get more from your ad spend on Meta.
How it works (simplified):
- A user interacts with your site or app.
- Event data is sent to your Meta Signals Gateway endpoint (hosted by you or a provider like Usercentrics).
- The Gateway securely forwards this data to Meta.
- Meta uses it to improve attribution, targeting, and campaign results.
The Usercentrics platform is a managed hosting layer for Meta Signals Gateway, enabling customers to quickly:
- Launch their own gateways with one click (no need to manage cloud hosting setups)
- Manage usage, domains, and credentials in one place
- Benefit from more resilient and performant data delivery to Meta
Advertisers who implemented the Signals Gateway Pixel along with their Meta Pixel and Conversions API integration saw on average a 23% reduction in Cost per Action over using Meta Pixel and Conversions API alone.*
This is incremental to the 13% Cost per result improvement on average for businesses with the Meta Pixel who set up the Conversions API**
Source: Based on meta-analysis of 15 A/B experiments at 99% confidence with Conversions API Gateway advertisers conducted between May 2024 to Jan 2025 in APAC, EMEA and NORAM, with incentives
While both Meta’s Signals Gateway and Google’s Server-side Tag Manager (sGTM) operate on server infrastructure, their purposes differ. sGTM is a flexible data router — a general-purpose server that lets you collect, transform, and distribute data to multiple destinations like Meta, Google Analytics, or TikTok.
In contrast, the Meta Signals Gateway is an easy-to-use event processing system optimized for sending high-quality conversion data to Meta. It’s preconfigured and managed for performance and reliability, giving advertisers the benefits of server-side tracking without the technical complexity of running their own infrastructure.
It depends on your goals. If Meta is an important advertising channel for you and you want a simple, guided setup focused on Meta Ads performance, Usercentrics Meta Signals Gateway Hosting could be the right choice. It makes it easy to connect your web and offline data to Meta, improve tracking accuracy, and build custom audiences — all without technical expertise.
If you’re looking for a more advanced, multi-platform solution, Server Google Tag Managing (sGTM) hosting may be better suited. It offers greater control over tracking across platforms like Google, Meta, and TikTok, enabling powerful data enrichment and centralized governance in a privacy-safe environment.
Usercentrics Meta Signals Gateway makes Meta tracking easy, fast, and privacy-safe. It’s simple to activate, requiring no complex setup or technical expertise. The solution is fully hosted and maintained by Usercentrics, so you don’t need to manage servers or updates.
It’s compliance-friendly, helping to ensure that only consented data is sent to Meta’s advertising platform. You can be up and running in days, with integration into your existing CMP, Meta Conversions API, and other marketing tools — delivering high-quality, consented signals effortlessly.
Furthermore, using the Signals Gateway Pixel alongside the Meta Pixel and Conversions API, businesses observed several benefits:
- Clarks: −25% CPA, +32% ROAS, +33% conversions
- Terranova: −17% CPA, +22% ROAS, +21% conversions
- SBLY Media: −25% cost per result, +22% conversions
- YOIMEDIA: −22% CPA, +29% ROAS, +31% conversions
- PiKoYa: −21% cost per result, +33% ROAS, +27% conversions

Yes. You can use both Server-Side Google Tag Manager (sGTM) and the Signals Gateway together.
sGTM manages and processes your server-side tagging setup, while Signals Gateway provides first-party Meta Pixel support, offline conversion data processing, and custom audience building.
Not exactly — because Signals Gateway and Server GTM serve different purposes, it’s not a direct migration but rather a combination or expansion.
Yes — it’s highly recommended to use a custom domain for your Signals Gateway (and for your Server GTM container, if you use one).
A custom domain helps to ensure that all data requests and signals are sent through your own trusted domain rather than a third-party endpoint. This makes your measurement setup more resilient and future-proof.
Meta Signals Gateway fully supports the upload of offline conversions, including in-store purchases and CRM events.
You can upload point-of-sale transactions, loyalty program data, call center conversions, or other CRM-tracked outcomes.
Event identifiers are SHA-256 hashed and transferred securely. Any unmatched hashes are discarded after processing.
Yes. Signals Gateway supports sending data to custom destinations and to your BigQuery data warehouse.
The Meta CAPI Gateway provides a first-party endpoint that receives data from the classic Meta Pixel (e.g., from websites) as well as event data from offline sources like CRM systems, which is then forwarded to the Meta Conversions API (CAPI). It improves tracking accuracy by providing an alternative to browser limitations.
The Meta Signals Gateway builds upon the CAPI Gateway, providing the same capabilities — and more. It lets you create the new Signals Pixel, which is the Meta Pixel hosted under your domain, making it more resilient. It also acts as a data hub for first-party data from multiple sources, including websites, mobile apps, and offline/CRM systems. It processes and routes that data not only to Meta but also to other platforms if needed.
In short:
- CAPI Gateway = dedicated pipeline to send web and server events to the Meta CAPI.
- Signals Gateway = supports the new first-party pixel from Meta and acts as a centralized platform for managing and routing first-party data from multiple sources (websites, apps, and offline) to Meta and beyond.
First-party data is information you collect directly from your audience — through your website, app, CRM, or other owned channels. It’s consented, accurate, and fully under your control. Because it reflects real interactions with your brand, it’s the most reliable foundation for marketing decisions and targeting.
Third-party data, by contrast, is collected by other entities (like external platforms, websites, or tools) and then shared or sold. It’s often cookie-based, harder to verify, and increasingly limited by privacy laws and browser restrictions.
Building your marketing strategy on first-party data helps you:
- Improve targeting accuracy
- Maintain consistent tracking across platforms
- Reduce reliance on external sources
- Stay compliant with privacy regulations
- Future-proof your performance as third-party tracking fades

You can upgrade from the Free Plan to Premium Plan at any time. The size of your Premium Plan will be determined by the number of domains and pages on your site. If the scanner identifies that your site meets one of the following criteria, your Premium Plan will be upgraded:
- Lite Plan for websites with fewer than 50 subpages
- Small Plan for websites with fewer than 350 subpages
- Medium Plan for websites with fewer than 3,500 subpages
- Large Plan for websites with fewer than 7,000 subpages
- Extra Large Plan for websites with more than 7,000 subpages
If your website has more pages than you currently pay for, your plan will be automatically upgraded to the correct plan and pricing.
Yes, with the Cookiebot CMP Premium plan, you can have multiple domains in the same Cookiebot CMP account. You can even organize domains into domain groups that share the same banner configuration and legal framework. You can then choose to enable Cross-domain Consent Sharing to enable your visitors to consent for multiple domains at once and not be asked to submit consent for all of the domains separately.
The monthly price of your Cookiebot CMP subscription depends on two factors:
- the total number of domains added to your account
- the number of subpages per domain – from Lite (fewer than 50 subpages) to Extra Large (more than 7,000 subpages)
Accounts with four or more domains added by the time of the first invoice are offered the Premium Small Plan exclusively. This plan is priced at €15 per month for domains with fewer than 350 subpages. For one to three domains, any small domain falls under our Premium Medium Plan, priced at €30 per month.
Yes, Cookiebot Consent Management Platform (CMP) treats domains and sub-domains separately. This is because we need to scan each domain/sub-domain. Therefore, you need a subscription for each of your domains and each of your subdomains.
– example.com, it.example.com and uk.example.com are treated as 3 different domains.
– example.com/en, example.com/it and example.com/da are treated as 1 domain.
– Please note that example.com and www.example.com should be treated as 1 domain. Adding both example.com and www.example.com will result in a billing for both domains.
The Cookiebot CMP pricing structure is based on the number of pages your website has because that affects resource usage. Every month our scanner crawls your website to identify new cookies and trackers. As part of that our scanner will detect the number of pages your website has at that moment. The monthly subscription price will be calculated based on the highest page count recorded during the website scan history.
Scanning a larger number of pages requires more resources. The fewer the resources required to scan a domain, the lower the cost to us and subsequently to you.
We are able to offer a free plan for the same reason, since a single domain with no more than 50 pages requires few resources.

Disclaimer: Offer valid for new users only. Free access for up to 20,000 events. Standard rates apply thereafter.
