Usercentrics CMPs were among the first consent management platforms certified by Google when it launched its CMP Partner Program in May 2023. The Usercentrics CMPs were subsequently awarded Google’s Gold Tier certification in the company’s CMP Partner Program, and continue to meet new requirements to maintain that status.
This certification guides Google customers to select a consent management platform that enables the highest possible percentage of successful implementations, outstanding customer support, and that Google customers can easily set them up with Consent Mode.
As user privacy expectations continue to evolve, Google mandates a number of data privacy and consent requirements in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland. The company facilitates easier adoption of Google consent mode to help meet these requirements.
After customer consent for processing personal data is obtained, consent mode enables companies to signal these consent choices to control Google services like Google Ads and Google Analytics.
In addition to the Gold Tier certification, Usercentrics CMPs and Cookiebot CMP are two of a small number of direct integrations currently available within the Google user interface inside of Google Ads, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager to provide this straightforward and user-friendly functionality.
“Privacy is a core part of marketing now. The Gold Tier certification and the new recognition for app ready means customers can choose a CMP with confidence to meet consent management needs in conjunction with their use of Google Services. The Usercentrics CMPs, accessible through all Google interfaces, make it more seamless than ever for SMBs to meet Google’s EU user consent policy requirements and grow digital marketing operations” said Eike Paulat, Director of Product at Usercentrics.
2025 recertification requirements and tiering system for Google’s CMP Partner Program
For this year’s CMP Partner Program re-certification, Google introduced three new requirements and tiering criteria:
- Third-party plugin support for WordPress and Shopify
- Diagnostic tool for Consent Mode
- ‘App ready’ Partner recognition
Usercentrics is proud to announce that the Usercentrics Web and App CMPs have met these new requirements, continuing as a Gold Tier Partner. Besides that we are now recognized as an ‘app ready’ partner.
Third-party plugin support for WordPress and Shopify
It is now mandatory that all Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tier partners ensure that WordPress plugins integrate with the wp-consent API.
Additionally, Shopify Apps integrate with the Customer Privacy API.
Diagnostic tool for Consent Mode
It is now mandatory for all Gold Tier CMPs and applicants for Gold Tier status to develop a user-friendly diagnostic tool to check the implementation status of Google Consent Mode. These Partners must also proactively notify customers about this tool and how to use it.
‘App ready’ partner annotation
This achievement is optional for all Bronze, Silver, and Gold Tier partners. CMPs meeting Google’s new app requirements can receive an annotation as ‘app ready’ partners in addition to their Bronze, Silver, or Gold status.
This annotation recognizes CMP partners that best serve app customers and provide a seamless consent implementation on apps. Usercentrics, with the App CMP, is now recognized as an ‘app ready’ partner by Google, as part of the CMP Partner program.
To receive the ‘app ready’ partner annotation, Usercentrics App CMP met the following requirements:
- Seamless integration with Google Firebase
- Seamless integration with a minimum of three of Google’s App Attribution Partners
- Webview continuity: seamless passing of consent signals when a user moves between native app and webview experiences
This annotation will further help companies that are using Google services and looking for a Google-certified CMP solution to find one that meets their needs and provides peace of mind in privacy compliance support.
