Summary

Crossplan Germany is a large digital company based in Hamburg. They help publishing houses, radio stations and similar clients in the design and operational implementation of digital publishing and business strategies with creative data intelligence.

In addition to innovative services in audio data, audience and business insights and consumer rights management, Crossplan enables an optimal and technologically independent monetization of digital inventories through customized services in inventory hosting (both for online audio and podcasts), yield and campaign management, as well as sales education.

Our goal was to establish a standardized query for our publishers and to use it across all websites and apps. The CMP had to be as multi-client capable as possible. We also wanted to work with a European partner. All this was delivered by Usercentrics.
Thomas Kabke-Sommer, Managing Director at Crossplan Germany

Challenge

As a technological enabler, Crossplan Germany provides the basis and infrastructure for data-driven marketing and user-centric products in online audio for over 50 publishers and over 800 digital offers.

Publishers are a particular focus for authorities and when it comes to cookie compliance, so a consistent consent strategy has been an integral part of Crossplan’s broader data strategy from the very beginning.

Value creation is only possible with user trust and in consideration of legal requirements and developments, which is the reason why Crossplan wants to harmonize data-driven business models and consumer rights.

Goals

Flexible and user-friendly configuration

It was important for Crossplan Germany to find a solution that could work across all clients’ platforms, yet be customizable to each client’s different requirements, e.g. compliance with IAB Europe’s TC Framework. It was also important for Crossplan Germany to work with a European partner. The team found both in Usercentrics.

Strong support

Data privacy compliance can be very complicated, which is why Crossplan Germany was looking for a solution with strong support and requiring minimal manual effort. Crossplan had previously decided not to develop their own CMP solution, but go with a recognized provider on the market.

Client customizations

It was very important for Crossplan Germany to find a consent management solution that would cater to the different and specific needs of each of their clients, like being able to use a standardized interface that can be edited in collaboration with clients, especially their data protection officers.

Protecting Brand Reputation

Thomas Kabke-Sommer, Managing Director at Crossplan Germany, spoke to us about the team’s experience working with Usercentrics.

Strong EU partner

Our goal from the beginning was to establish a standardized query for our publishers and to use it across all websites and apps. Therefore, it was important that the CMP is an IAB Europe certified part of the TC Framework and can implement necessary adjustments to the framework quickly and reliably. Since our publishers have different requirements, the CMP had to be as multi-client capable as possible. We also wanted to work with a European partner. All this was delivered by the colleagues from Usercentrics.

Fast and reliable support

Contact with the team in Munich was always very positive. Thanks to a permanent Customer Success Manager and direct contact with Support, problems and questions could usually be solved or answered quickly. In the case of technical questions, there was always the possibility of a direct exchange with developers and the Product team. We can also propose feature requests for the roadmap.

More control, more security

Our publishers gained more control and security over the technologies and processes in use on websites and apps. They were able to increase user trust and strengthen the listener relationship.

Partner trust today and in the future

We expect Usercentrics to find quick and sustainable answers to the current and future developments in the market.
Thomas Kabke-Sommer, Managing Director at Crossplan Germany

We expect Usercentrics to find quick and sustainable answers to the current and future developments in the market. As a technological service provider for numerous websites and apps in the area of consent management, we need a strong and trustworthy partner with whom we can overcome the upcoming challenges together. The rapid pace regarding the technological implementation of expected changes to the TCF framework is of utmost importance to us in order to be able to offer our publishers the highest possible level of legal certainty and to reduce negative impacts on digital marketing opportunities. Equally exciting is the consistent further development of multi-client features and the expansion of the Consent product portfolio for smartspeaker, Connected TV and OTT devices.
