The company

LUNEX S.A. is a Luxembourg-based university, specializing in sports, health, and management education. Operating in Europe with a team of about 60, GDPR compliance is critical to their online presence as they regularly work with the personal data of a large customer base. Providing transparency and building trust with their users is also critically important on their digital properties.

The challenges

Maintaining GDPR compliance continues to be important as the regulatory landscape evolves and as the university grows and manages more online platforms and customer data. The team also wanted a solution that enabled Google Consent Mode integration so they could continue to make full use of Google Ads. Additionally, as their users do more and more online, ensuring great user experience that’s transparent about data use and builds trust is also crucial to the LUNEX brand.

What were the key priorities and goals for this project?

The biggest priority was maintaining legal compliance with the GDPR, and potentially other relevant regulations and frameworks over time. For the online marketing team, integration with Google Consent Mode was important, and had been missing from their previous CMP. 

User experience is also always a key priority, so providing clear information to users and enabling choices on the website regarding access to and use of their data is important. And as with all aspects of user data, ensuring secure handling and storage of consent information over time is critical.

Fast and easy implementation and use

Bonato noted, “We started onboarding in mid-April, and l’d say that the whole onboarding process took 10 working days maximum. The interface is user-friendly, and it was easy to follow each step.” So far LUNEX has set up the CMP on one domain. 

We asked about specific features and integrations that the LUNEX team has found valuable, and Bonato mentioned that, “The DPS database was even easier to implement than we initially thought during the demo session. The integration of Google Tag Manager was also quick thanks to the tutorial videos and technical documentation provided by Usercentrics.”

Full customization functionality

Being located in Luxembourg, LUNEX works with a multilingual client base, so it was important for the CMP to be presented in the same languages as the rest of the website. Additionally, the team customized their banner with their logo and corporate colors, making the first layer focused on GDPR-compliant information and consent options, while using the second layer as a further privacy settings center where users can make more granular consent selections and accept or reject cookies at the category level. 

Bonato noted, “We particularly appreciate the customization options for the cookie banner, the ease of implementation, and the user-friendly dashboard.”

Favorite features

We asked what particular features the team has found the most valuable and Bonato mentioned that, “One of the most useful features is the analytics report, which is clear and comprehensive. This is an option that was not available in our previous CMP, and it will help us to optimize our performance and continue to build trust with our users in the future.”

She also noted that, “The customer support team has been very responsive and helpful, managing to help us very quickly when needed.” That’s always great to hear.
