FAQ – Website

Are subdomains within a domain included?

Yes. Pricing is based on the number of sessions per month, not the number of subdomains.

Is Usercentrics blocked by adblockers?

At this stage, we are unaware of any ad blocking technology that would block the Usercentrics CMP.

Does Usercentrics offer the possibility to share User Consent between domains?

Yes, given that the same Javascript is implemented on the domains on which the transfer is to take place. This can be done via our function “Cross Domain Consent Sharing”.

Can different banners per (corporate) website be played out?

Yes, you can create any number of CMP installations for a group/company and also design them individually.

Does the use of CDN transfer IP addresses to the USA?

In order to load the code of the Usercentrics CMP as quickly and reliably as possible for all your users, Usercentrics uses a CDN (Content Distribution Network). Based on the location of the website visitor, the next server is thus selected to load the corresponding files. Since a CDN has a global list of IP addresses, analysis tools such as Webkoll can accidentally mistake the server for an American one. Nevertheless, all servers which receive and process consents are located in the EU. Our API server is located in Frankfurt, with a consent database in Belgium.

Has Usercentrics concluded standard contract clauses with Google Cloud?

As a precautionary measure, we agreed on  an EU standard contract (Processors 2010) with Google LLC on October 19, 2019. Immediately after the announcement of the Schrems II verdict, Google LLC changed its data transfer to Google LLC from the previously used Privacy Shield to the EU standard contract clauses (Processors 2010) for all customers, including Usercentrics, on August 15, 2020. The EU standard contract clauses (Processors) of Google LLC in the version of August 19, 2020 has been executed between Google LLC and Usercentrics since August 19, 2020.

Is the access to CMP information by Google absolutely impossible?

The storage of consents and device data takes place exclusively in the European Union, namely in Frankfurt am Main (API server) and in Belgium (Consent database). We have contractually agreed these storage locations with our partner – Google Ireland Limited. Google LLC has no standard access to the stored data and is only technically involved in supporting the hosting services used by Google Ireland. These are: Hardware maintenance, CDN and server monitoring. For none of these services Google LLC US has access to CMP information from Usercentrics.

Is there an implementation guideline?

You have several options for implementing the Consent Management Platform on your website. We provide the following implementation guides:

Does the tracking/non-tracking work automatically analogous to the user’s opt-in/opt-out after the JavaScript tag has been implemented?

Once the Usercentrics script has been inserted, the corresponding other scripts must also be adapted so that GDPR-compliance can be tracked. For this purpose you can use the following documentation: Implementation directly on the website or integration into the Google Tag Manager.

Why doesn’t the Smart Data Protector block all scripts on a website?

With our Smart Data Protector, you can easily block a list of data processing services. The full list of supported technologies can be found here.

Nevertheless, we do not block ALL scripts on a website automatically with it. Here are the reasons for that:

  • Usercentrics works directly on a data processing service level. We do not block cookies but the service that may then set them. If we simply block all scripts by default, we will not be able to tell which script belongs to which data processing service.
  • If we blocked all scripts, this would most likely break your website. To prevent that, we block each data processing service individually and also give you the option to decide for each single service whether or not it should be accepted by default.
  • For visual services like YouTube, Google Maps, and others, we show an overlay with legal content that’s relevant for this specific service. This would not be possible when blocking everything that we find on your website.
  • Further, you can decide for each supported service whether or not it should be blocked by the Smart Data Protector.

How do you calculate the Average Daily Active Users (ADAU) per month?

Average Daily Active Users per month = (DAU Day 1 + DAU Day 2 + … DAU Day n.) / number of days in the month)

The ADAU metric indicates the average of Daily Active Users for a specific app over the period of one month. The final average is calculated at the end of each billing cycle.

How do you measure DAU?

DAU is calculated based on the count of unique mobile users who installed the app and who had at least one active session in a 24-hour period.
