Documentation for the new Granular Analytics is now available, and Consent Analytics in the Admin Interface for v2 of the CMP will be deprecated November 30th, 2022.

Data Subject Requests (DSR)
As more privacy regulations come into force, more people are taking an interest in the collection and use of their personal data and sending Data Subject Requests DSRs (or Data Subject Access Requests, aka DSARs) to companies. Usercentrics has you covered.
The Usercentrics DSR functionality enables you to accept Data Subject Requests from end users in a clear and structured manner in accordance with legislation requirements. The functionality can be accessed via the Admin Interface. Just contact your Customer Success Manager or our Customer Support team to set it up. There is a structured intake form and dedicated interface for managing requests, keeping everything in one place and streamlining processing.
DSR DocumentationSERVER-SIDE TAGGING
How to implement server-side conversion tracking with Google Ads and Usercentrics CMP
The world is shifting away from third-party tags and data. Increasingly this will require companies to evolve their data strategies to embrace first-party data and a greater focus on user privacy and consent.
Server-side tagging (SST) is a key part of this evolution of data strategy. It enables more control over cookies and can be integrated with any channel, like web, apps or smart devices. Integration of a server tag manager also offers several advantages. A popular example of the use of server-side tagging is tracking conversions in Google Ads. Together with our partner dwc consult, we have created a use case on how to implement server-side tagging with Google Ads and Usercentrics CMP.

View Release NoteIncreasing adoption of Data Warehouses and Consent Management Platforms
Today, Consent Management Platforms (CMPs) are deployed on web pages or mobile apps as a self-contained privacy solution. For each visitor, the CMP collects visitor consent, stores consent preferences, and determines what visitor data to share with third parties.
More and more companies are taking ownership of their user data by storing first-party data in their data warehouses and Customer Data Platforms (CDP). With full control of how this data is collected, stored and used, companies must understand user consent and ensure data is handled appropriately.
This shift away from self-contained client solutions introduces new integration challenges and new opportunities to improve the user experience.
For companies deploying first-party user data solutions, it is often challenging to integrate with CMPs across user touchpoints and keep privacy preferences in sync. The shift to first-party user data solutions enables capabilities across properties that were previously not possible.
Integrating with Consent Management Platforms
Usercentrics makes client APIs available to all customers to communicate user consent preferences to their backend solution of choice. The Developer Guide to Customer Data Platforms provides a deeper dive with sample code to help get started.
The shift to server-based solutions enables innovations to improve the user and customer experience that were not previously possible. The first set of features reduce unnecessary re-consent and enable synchronization of consent preferences. These new beta capabilities are live today with selected customers. If you’re interested in participating in the beta, please get in touch with our Support team.

PERFORMANCE
Performance updates for CMP v2 – Browser UI
Our performance team is continuously working hard to make sure your CMP v2’s performance is as fast as possible. To this end, for the Browser UI, soon the public methods getServices() and getSettings() will be deprecated. The method getSettings() will be replaced by getSettingsCore() and getControllerId(). The method getServices will be replaced by getFullServicesInfo() and getBaseServicesInfo(). Find out more about the methods and how to start using the new ones in our full documentation.
Learn moreAnother change that will impact performance will be to our localstorage field uc_settings. We do not recommend using our localstorage to retrieve information because it can change without prior notice, please use the UI methods described above instead.
When these performance updates are released, we will notify you by email and we will provide instructions to guide you through any updates you need to make to your CMP v2 setup.

Watch TrainingRELEASE NOTES
Don’t miss any product updates!
Version 2 of Usercentrics Consent Management Platform (CMP) brings a wide variety of optimizations and new features, and our team is always hard at work adding more. Get even more functionality and flexibility to build user trust and optimize your key KPIs.
The following FAQ addresses the migration from CMP v1 to CMP v2 to help your company make the change smoothly. Contact our support team or your Customer Success Manager with any questions and begin your migration to CMP v2.
General
What benefits can I expect from migrating to CMP v2?
Version 2 of Usercentrics’ Consent Management Platform comes with a lot of enhancements, many of them are only available in v2. Some of these include:
- Substantially reduced file size and faster loading times
- Performance optimized UI
- WCAG 2.1 AA web accessibility certification
- Cross-device Consent Sharing
- Advanced Analytics Dashboard and Reporting
- A/B Testing
- Self-programmable UI and CMP behavior with Browser SDK
- Multi-configuration Bulk Editing
- Preview & Publish functionality
How long will v1 of the Consent Management Platform be supported?
There is not a set date yet, but customers will be notified well in advance. It is also important to note that new features will only be added to v2.
Do I need CMP v2 to be able to use the CMP with the In-App SDK?
Yes, our App SDK is configured in the v2 Admin Interface, and will not work in v1. We recommend v2 in combination with the App SDK to guarantee a seamless user experience on websites, apps and games, e.g. for features like Cross-Device Consent Sharing.
Do I need CMP V2 to obtain consent in accordance with TCF 2.0?
Yes, because TCF 2.0 was not yet available with v1, it’s only included with v2, so that’s the only version that can enable TCF 2.0-compliant consent.
Implementation
Does the CMP v2 need to be activated in my account?
Yes, the CMP v2 needs to be activated by Usercentrics for each Settings ID. In order to do so, please contact us via the ticketing system or email your Customer Success Manager. Once activated, you can switch to the new CMP v2 in the Admin Interface.
Are there instructions for the migration and/or the implementation of CMP v2?
- General instructions: Browser-based CMP v2 for web
- CMP v2: Step-by-step guide to configuring Usercentrics CMP v2 to support TCF 2.0
We also have video guides for migration:
- EN – How to migrate to the Usercentrics CMP version 2
- DE – Wie migriere ich auf die Usercentrics CMP version 2
To give you a quick overview of the migration process, here’s a handy checklist. Full details are in our videos or the linked documentation), here’s a handy checklist:
- Create a ticket or contact your Customer Success Manager to activate your CMP v2 in the Admin Interface.
- Exchange the CMP script tag.
- Adjust tags in your tag manager (new event + “once per page”).
- Check your implementation for custom HTML (e.g. in the banner message).
- Adjust the styling of your CMP.
- Adjust the content (e.g. banner message).
- Optionally, also adjust:
- API
- HTML Embeddings
- Event Listener
- Privacy Link
Note: Consents will be transferred automatically if the same Settings ID is being used in the script tag.
Do I have to start a new implementation when migrating to CMP v2?
To migrate to CMP v2, please replace the current Usercentrics script with the new script, which you can find in your Usercentrics Admin Interface.
If you integrate Data Processing Services using the Google Tag Manager, please adjust your tags’ existing variables and triggers: Google Tag Manager configuration for CMP v2
If you use the following, they will also need to be changed, as they differ between v1 and v2:
- API
- HTML Embeddings
- Event Listener
- Privacy Link
Nothing will change for Data Processing Services that you have integrated directly into your source code. These can still be adjusted: Direct integration of the Usercentrics CMP into your website
Will existing stored consents from v1 be transferred to v2?
Provided that the Settings ID remains the same, previously obtained consents can be transferred over to v2. There is a script integrated in v2 that adjusts the local storage from v1 to v2.
v2 is not backwards compatible, so converting consents from v2 to v1 is not possible.
Will there be an API interface in CMP v2?
Yes. The available functions can be found in our Browser UI API documentation.
Can Usercentrics recommend a partner for the implementation of CMP v2?
Our partners Comspace GmbH or TWT Digital Group GmbH will be glad to assist you with the implementation.
User Interface and Configuration
Where can I see an example of the browser UI in action?
It’s in use right on the Usercentrics website.
What are the customization options for v2?
The following customizations can be made directly in the Admin Interface:
- Logo
- Brand color
- Font
- Layout (banner or wall)
- Categories in the first layer
- Deny button: Yes or No
- Privacy Settings: various options
- Privacy Trigger: various options
Check the Admin Interface for v2 for further customization options.
Customers using the Browser SDK can completely customize their CMP’s user interface.
Can I fully customize the consent management strategy and UI with v2?
Yes, by using the Browser SDK and self-programmable UI you can customize all aspects of appearance and messaging. Learn about how that works in our Browser SDK documentation.
How time or resource intensive is creating a customized UI?
That depends entirely on what you want to implement. We would be glad to put you in touch with one of our partners to get an initial cost estimate. Feel free to contact our partners Comspace GmbH or TWT Digital Group GmbH. Our support team can also address some questions, though they cannot assist with implementation.

Is Custom CSS available in CMP v2?
Custom CSS is only available for Premium plans. Please note that any CSS updates made by the customer are done at the customer’s own risk. We cannot support CSS troubleshooting.
The Browser UI is not customizable enough. Can Usercentrics help us develop our own UIs?
Usercentrics’ partners are happy to assist you with custom development. You can contact them at Comspace GmbH or TWT Digital Group GmbH.
Can I copy existing custom Data Processing Services directly from a v1 Settings ID to a different v2 Settings ID?
This is possible with our Bulk Editing feature, which is available in our Premium Plans.

More information on how to use this feature can be found in our Technical Documentation.
How will reporting work in v2?
