Canada’s current privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), has been in place since 2000, significantly predating the EU’s GDPR and California’s CCPA. Proposed legislation, which includes the Consumer Privacy Protection Act (CPPA), would significantly update privacy law in Canada.
